This year again, as a special feature, 6 IUJ teams will take on the “Onigiri World Championship.” They will create an original onigiri “riceball” dish to combine Japan’s traditional food made with the wonderful Koshihikari rice of our area with the flavors or their country! The Onigiri World Campionship is sponsored by the Niigata Prefecture and Minami Uonuma city.

IUJ-VJCC Hanoi Joint Office was established

The International University of Japan (IUJ) ended as of March 31, 2019, the operation of the IUJ-ULIS Joint Office located in the University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS) – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, which was started on November 7, 2015. At the same time, in order to establish a new joint office between the IUJ and the Vietnam-Japan Human Resources Development (VJCC), we signed an agreement on the establishment of a joint office on April 1, 2019.

In order to lay the groundwork for the establishment of the joint office, President Itami visited VJCC in January 2018, and Chairman Utsuda visited VJCC in November of the same year. Views on the results of their activities and future directions were exchanged. Both organizations agreed that Japan and Vietnam hoped for further development through their mutual cooperation, which resulted in the signing of this agreement.

In 2019, VJCC celebrated its 10th anniversary of the establishment of a “management school” launched in 2009 and has a track record of having over 400 corporate executives. VJCC has started to operate a Japanese-style international management undergraduate school established since September 2017. The classes are being conducted in English.

This Japanese-style international business undergraduate school mostly matches the educational purpose and content of the “Japan-Global Development Program” jointly implemented by IUJ and JICA under the JICA Development Studies program (JICA-DSP) from September 2018. There are many areas where IUJ can contribute to Japanese-style international management undergraduate school. It expects successful educational outcomes.

Based on the agreement, the joint office was established in the VJCC office. The co-director of VJCC is Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, and the co-director of IUJ is Mr. Nguyen Tung Lam. We will promote mutual academic research activities and exchanges with universities and research institutes in Vietnam. As the first step, the Vietnam-Japan International Business Academic Conference will be held in September 2019 at VJCC.

Mr. Nguyen Tung Lam (the co-director of VJCC, standing second from the left) and Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien (the co-director of VJCC, standing second from the right) signed the agreement and held the agreement document together.

In the future, IUJ will utilize this joint office to promote activities for establishing and strengthening relations with universities and research institutes in Vietnam while promoting PR activities. In addition, we will conduct student recruitment activities and support activities to obtain scholarships for students who wish to study at IUJ.
